When I read the restaurant they had dinner at, I thought that Carmella and Michael were home already! We live in Medina, Ohio and the restuarant was names Medina! Very neat to know that our cousins are also in the food industry making pasta for restaurants. It is in our blood to make good food!
The restaurant looks so warm and inviting. The food looks deliciously good; my saliva glands are watering and the presentation is bellisimo! I could taste and smell the aromas all the way across the Atlantic! My mind is already thinking of the new dishes that La Campanga will create and I can't wait to hear the recipes and do some trial runs of the dishes.
I feel as though my heart is there with my family. I can hear them talking, laughing and see the jestering of the hands. I feel the hugs, the grabbing of the checks, the hugs, the hands waving again and the hugs. I also understand the tears of sadness. It is hard to leave when you just reconnected after all those miles. When we do gather as a famiy, we have one heck of a good time. But when it is time to part, we have no problem showing our emotions. For My sister Carmella to say it was emotional, took alot; as I know it is hard for her at times to show her emotions. They relatives touched her heart in a special way. My brother is one emotional guy, so I imagine he was right there along with them.
The family in Orsara are part of us and we are a part of them. They really enjoy seeing their American family as we really enjoy them. They welcome us with open arms and give us the utmost hospitality. We truly appreciate their warmth. I am excited to meet them myself on the next trip to Italy. Then it will be my turn to reminisce with the Orsarasi. Till next time Arrivederchi!
We are 2nd generation Italo Americans from the Puglia Region. Our story is like many Italo Americans brought together via tradition, laughter, family and food. Since we could walk, we were in our grandparents' gardens reaching for the prized "seed" tomato. The "tasty tomato" is our life force; metaphor for love, food, tradition, memories, comfort, the market, summer canning, harvest, celebration, and much more. Share our family traditions as we build upon the legacy of our Italian Ancestry.
Food Is...
Family, Tradition, Memories, Flavors, Gatherings, Laughter, Life, Vitality, Comfort...Love.
