Leaving Orsara to arrive in Abruzzo

Yesterday the group enjoyed a private tour of Peppe Zullo's cooking school, vineyards, recovered old mill building, gardens, olive groves and much more. Peppe Zullo is a renowned restaurateur who has received national acclaim for his dedication to the natural, sustainable, slow food movement in Italy. While walking in the olive grove, they learned some of the trees are over 800 years old, talk about longevity! If you wanted to learn the art of pasta making, you would be taught by a 70 year old woman who is called in specifically for this class.

The cooking school features sleeping accommodations for 5 students on site. Of course there are other rooms for accommodations at Peppe Zullo and other local hotels. One such local hotel is actually owned by one of our cousins! We were unaware that our family was in the hotel business there!

After the lovely tour and breakfast, the group left Orsara for the Abruzzo Region. There were a couple of interviews along the way with the final destination in Sulmona. They are staying in a quaint Bed and Breakfast type hotel.
