Traveling to Italy is always an adventure. There might be a plane delay.... which we had in Charlotte... there could always be a strike, which we were spared. Rome is always a bit chaotic, lots of people, jet lag, excitement, everyone shouting in Italian the list goes on! Finally we secure our car rental and head to our villa located in Todi, Perugia.
When making our reservations we were warned it was secluded and hard to find. Feeling smart about the GPS we had in our rental car... we headed out. After 4 hours of searching for this very secluded villa... we finally found it. All day travel, plane delay, jet lag, driving in Italy and a 4 hour hunt for our villa... we are quite exhausted.
The struggle, the comical travel was all worth the beautiful view of
the countryside, though. After settleing into our abode, we ventured down the
street to a little hotel for a small bite to eat. We have arrived.
We are 2nd generation Italo Americans from the Puglia Region. Our story is like many Italo Americans brought together via tradition, laughter, family and food. Since we could walk, we were in our grandparents' gardens reaching for the prized "seed" tomato. The "tasty tomato" is our life force; metaphor for love, food, tradition, memories, comfort, the market, summer canning, harvest, celebration, and much more. Share our family traditions as we build upon the legacy of our Italian Ancestry.
Food Is...
Family, Tradition, Memories, Flavors, Gatherings, Laughter, Life, Vitality, Comfort...Love.
