Italia 2010!

Today we arrived in Rome and were met by Peppe Zullo.  It was a 4 hour drive to Orsara.  Along the way, we stopped at one of the oldest autogrills in Italia for a quick capuccino.  Our wonderful host explained the region we were driving through is well known for table nuts, of all kinds.

After we checked into our rooms, we ate a simple meal made from the fresh herbs and produce from the garden.  We spent some time with introductions for the new travelers in our group and happy hellos for those of us returning from last year.  Mama and Michael, (1 boy) went to meet up with our cousins in the town as they will be staying there for the duration of the trip.  How wonderful to see our relatives, just like a family reunion. 

Dinner was another freshly prepared pasta made with the burnt wheat flour from the fields paired with wonderful wines. Around the table we learned the surprise for tomorrow would be making gelato from the produce out of the garden.  This was met by a round of applause, oooos and ahhhhs.
