The day was spent touring around the town of Orsara and surrounding areas. We were able to see the land and countryside, Campagna, that has inspired the traditions, foods and lore. Orsara is a Slow Food City and recognized as such in the region.

Saint Michael's in Orsara |
In preparation for the Feast of Saint Michael, we made a special stop at the church to learn about the patron saint of Orsara. Tomorrow we are going to celebrate with the town Saint Michael. We are really looking forward to this honor and auspicious time.
Mama brought some of our cousins to eat with us today. We sat down and had a big Abuffata, or large meal with of course foods in season and local. Laughter, food, wine, stories, what more could one ask for?

Grotto where it is said Saint Michael Appeared. |
We also took a trip to visit the
Shrine of Padre Pio and Saint Angelo. Near there was a
grotto or cave dedicated to Saint Michael that also took our breath away. To close the evening, we ate at a small restaurant seaside in
Manfredonia. We sampled the local seafood from the Adriatic Sea while the folks singers sang songs. Afterwards we all got up and danced and had a great time under the stars!

How very magical this trip has been, and tomorrow will be our last full day in Orsara with our beautiful host, Peppe Zullo.
