This past holiday weekend was a time for rest and relaxation. Our family has enjoyed a mountain cabin since the early 1970's. As the story goes, Dad liked to go hunting and would join the boys in Penn. He was born in Butler, PA and was fond of the surrounding area. As a way to keep his hobby going and include his family on the deal, he went and purchased a plot of land just outside of Cook's Forest State Park. It was presented as a gift to our Mother on Mother's Day.
What dad didn't expect was for his family, all 5 children and mom included, would LOVE spending time at the cabin and he thought he would have a nice little hunting cabin and spend some time with the guys. HA! The grandchildren and great grandchildren have had this wonderful cabin to call their own too. It is a family treasure for us and we certainly do tha
Over the years, we have enjoyed spending our weekends, vacations and holidays at this cabin. It has been packed with friends and family and always... GREAT FOOD! There is nothing like the fresh mountain air, camp fire and a rack of delicious ribs to get your appetite wet. And follow it up with some just picked corn on the cob, fresh tomato salad from the garden and a yummy old fashioned girl scout smore!
The food enjoyed at our cabin has always been plentiful, fresh and out of this world. We often use the cabin as a place to plan those outlandish meals that bring such satisfaction and guilty pleasure. After all, it is a vacation and time to enjoy life, while leaving the worries of day to day far behind.
