What a success August's Wine Tasting Event was! Even though the summer heat is upon us, a great crowd gathered for a sumptuous wine tasting that featured a 5 course tasting menu.
We started with a Cold Honeydew Melon Soup with Prosciutto and Marscapone Cheese. Which was followed by an Heirloom Tomato Goat Cheese Tart, tomatoes by Ridge Bridge Farm and cheese by Lake Erie Creamery. Our third course featured a Cheese and Antipasto Meat Plate. The main course of Grilled Lamb Chops and Seasonal Vegetables was next. Who doesn't love a Lamb Chop? (Well actually, one of the grandchildren has a hard time with lamb...but the rest of us love it)! For the last course, we finished with dessert, Polenta Upside Down Plum Cake.
Every course was paired with a lovely wine. Participants were able to join in fine crafted food, wine and glorious company that evening. After a wine tasting, wines are available for purchase.
Please mark your calendar for the next wine tasting event. We are featuring wines from the Bastianich Family. Lydia's Kitchen has featured her son from time to time and we are proud to offer his wines in September.
We are 2nd generation Italo Americans from the Puglia Region. Our story is like many Italo Americans brought together via tradition, laughter, family and food. Since we could walk, we were in our grandparents' gardens reaching for the prized "seed" tomato. The "tasty tomato" is our life force; metaphor for love, food, tradition, memories, comfort, the market, summer canning, harvest, celebration, and much more. Share our family traditions as we build upon the legacy of our Italian Ancestry.
Food Is...
Family, Tradition, Memories, Flavors, Gatherings, Laughter, Life, Vitality, Comfort...Love.
