La Campagna hosted their first Saint Joseph's Table this past March. This celebration honors Saint Joseph for the intercessions he has done the previous year. On March 19th, families would set up an alter in their home in three tiers. Items to be placed on the alter would include: Saint Joseph statue, pictures of loved ones, offerings of food, intentions, lemons, and carpentry tools. The meal would consist of 13 dishes all made to mimic "sawdust" with breadcrumbs. There would also be plenty of fish, but no meat served. If you were invited to a Saint Joseph's Table, you would scribe an intention for Saint Joseph intercession. If your intention came true, you would make an alter next year to honor Saint Joseph and share your bounty with others, so they may also have Saint Joseph's powerful intercession on their behalf.
As Saint Joseph is a patron saint of Sicily, most celebrations in the states are found were many Sicilians have settled in the new county, New York and New Orleans being the two most popular. Equally important to note is how Saint Joseph helped those who were seaside in their time of need.
This year, La Campagna had a full house to celebrate Saint Joseph. The alter was full of intentions, lemons and donations of non perishable food items. It is suggested to make a monetary offering if you are able and if you take a lemon you should leave a dollar. The lemon is for special intentions. The money offered, was donated to “ CAP HAITIAN DENTAL INSTITUTE” for a Dental Clinic in
